Plans for a revamped Portland International Airport include a $98 million terminal expansion with accompanying airlines rearrangement.
In total, 44,000 square feet will be added to Concourse E, where Alaska and Southwest Airlines operate.
The project is part of a series of upgrades that began with the replacement of the terminal’s 1980s-era carpet, which built up an enthusiastic fan base on social media in its waning months.
The airport has also replaced some of its concessionaires and vendors and remodeled its federal inspection station for international arrivals.
In the coming months, PDX will redesign security checkpoints and exits from the secured areas of the airport, followed by the ticket lobby, pre-security shops and baggage claim.
