Fans are invited to join investors including Alexis Ohanian and Renee Montgomery in backing game-changing brand.
PORTLAND, Ore. (May 18, 2026) — The Sports Bra, the world’s first-of-its-kind bar dedicated exclusively to women’s sports, officially announced today the launch of its crowdfunding campaign, Own a Piece of The Bra, hosted on the Republic platform. Following years of exponential growth and viral cultural impact, this campaign invites fans and institutional investors to share in the ownership of a brand redefining the $32 billion sports bar industry.
The Own a Piece of The Bra campaign is designed to fuel the brand’s ambitious expansion, including additional franchise locations and a second owned location in Portland, Oregon. The move comes as investment in women’s sports hits a fever pitch, moving from a niche interest to a dominant market force. The minimum investment is just $250, and the goal of the investment campaign is to raise $1.2 million.
Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six, Reddit co-founder, founding control owner of Angel City FC, ATHLOS, and LOVB’s new LA team, was an early champion of The Sports Bra’s mission through the 776 Foundation. He highlighted the campaign as a prime example of how underinvested sectors are finally being valued for their true worth.

“For decades, people have said to support women’s entrepreneurship or women’s sports for society or for feminism. But when you win with capitalism, you just drop the mic,” said Ohanian. “The Sports Bra is just getting started. It isn’t charity. It is business. I’m looking for the founders like Jenny who are building million-dollar businesses from passion and purpose.”
Joining Ohanian in backing the mission is WNBA legend, Atlanta Dream co-owner, and early investor Renee Montgomery, who views the crowdfunding launch as a vital step in maintaining the industry’s current momentum.
“Women’s sports is big business, and supporting through investment will yield returns,” said Montgomery. “If you’ve been paying attention, it’s easy to see how backing The Sports Bra is a winning move. If we continue to pour into each other, we can be both early investors and megaphones for startups that need an assist.”
Since opening its doors in Portland in 2022, The Sports Bra has seen unprecedented demand, proving that the appetite for women’s sports is a massive, untapped economic driver. The Republic campaign focuses on three core growth pillars:
- National expansion: Attracting and identifying prospective franchise owners in cities across the U.S.
- Franchise infrastructure: Developing the playbooks and exporting the game plan to empower these entrepreneurs to bring The Bra to their own communities.
- Brand ecosystem: Expanding the community-first philosophy into merchandise, partnerships, and community-led events.
Jenny Nguyen, founder and CEO of The Sports Bra, said, “By launching on Republic, we are giving our community members the chance to be more than fans. They are now owners. We are aligning ourselves with investors, big and small, who believe women’s sports is one of the most undervalued opportunities in the market, and The Sports Bra is built to meet this moment.”
