Eugene restaurant Belly is expanding into two downtown locations, part of a broad revitalization of the city’s downtown area.

In the retail equivalent of a three-run homer, Belly restaurant is moving into space left vacant at 30 E. Broadway by the closure in August of Adam’s Sustainable Table. Seth San Filippo, owner of Urban Lumber, has opened a showroom for his handcrafted furniture next door at 28 E. Broadway, in space vacated by Cafe Maroc, after hearing about it from Belly chef/owner Brendan Mahaney. And Mahaney has filled the void left by Belly’s departure from 291 E. Fifth Ave. with Belly Taqueria.

“We just feel strongly that downtown Eugene could be improved, and we wanted to be a part of that,” San Filippo said. “It’s going to take businesses like Brendan’s and mine, and products that are very unique, very Eugene, to do that.”
