Andy Ricker, the chef and owner of Portland’s Pok Pok, Whiskey Soda Lounge, Ping and Pok Pok Noi, has acquired the space currently occupied by Kappaya Restaurant.
The Kappaya space, at 3384 S.E. Division St., is just two blocks east of the original Pok Pok. Ricker plans to take over the lease Oct. 1, then reopen at an as-yet undetermined time as a casual restaurant selling mostly curry-on-rice dishes.
Ricker also reconfirmed that he is looking to open a Pok Pok outpost in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
