The wind farm developer has permits to build the state’s first solar resource plant in Prineville.
While no one has yet come forward to sign a power purchase agreement to kickstart the 50- to 60-megawatt project, company managers hope it will be built in the next two years. Iberdrola won’t start work without a buyer.
“We’re looking to develop more utility-scale solar resources,” said Art Sasse, spokesperson for the company. “Eastern Oregon, central and southern, has a very viable solar resource.”

In other energy utility news, Portland General Electric filed a lawsuit against insurers Liberty Mutual Surety and Zurich North America “over a surety bond in place for the construction of the Carty Generating Station,” according to the East Oregonian.
