Seattle-based DCI Engineers acquired Eugene-based structural engineering firm M.R. Richards Engineering.

Seattle-based DCI Engineers acquired Eugene-based structural engineering firm M.R. Richards Engineering.

The combined companies will be called MRR+DCI Engineers.

The Eugene firm, which was founded in 1969, has worked on such projects as the Eugene Public Library, the Nike building at Oakway Center and various buildings at the University of Ore­gon, including the new Student Recreation and Fitness Center.

The Seattle firm has worked on the Woolworth and Center Court projects in downtown Eugene, and is working on the proposed Capstone student apartments, also downtown.

With four employees, the Eugene firm is a fraction the size of DCI, which has a staff of about 160. But DCI, which does work throughout the United States and beyond, saw value in M.R. Richards, DCI President Roger Heeringa said.
