With Oregon’s unemployment rate at 9.4 percent, jobs are difficult to find and hard to come by.
Craig Spivey, a spokesman for the Oregon Employment Department said: “We knew there would be a lot of people showing up. What does that say about the economy?”
Just before 9 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a report of a fight between people who had been waiting in line for hours. “People were cutting in line ahead of others who (have) been here all night,” [Mark White of Salem] said about the fight.
