Portland startup Puppet Labs hired Skype’s chief financial officer Bill Koefoed to be its new CFO.

Luring Koefoed away from Microsoft represents a major milestone for Puppet, which makes no secret of its ambition to grow into a major player in the business software ecosystem.

“As the company scales and the company grows we need to be constantly adding new skill sets,” said Luke Kanies, Puppet’s founder and chief executive. He said Koefoed’s experience at a major technology company is a good complement to Puppet’s existing executive team, including finance chief Julie Crawford.
