Job vacancies in Oregon reached their highest level this summer since the Great Recession.

The Oregon Employment Department summer 2013 job vacancies survey showed 42,883 open positions, 73 percent of which were permanent positions. More than half of the jobs were in the Portland Tri-County area (Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington Counties).

That is a 21 percent increase in job vacancies since the spring 2013 survey, and a staggering 87 percent increase since the winter 2013 survey. Compared to the fall 2012 survey, the vacancies showed a 37 percent increase.
