Storage device maker LaCie is moving its U.S. operations with 150 employees from Hillsboro to Tigard.

LaCie is coming full circle. It was founded in Tigard in 1987 before a French company acquired it, keeping its original name. The about 400-employee company is now headquartered in Paris, with subsidiaries in major European and Asian cities.

“LaCie’s investment in Tigard through the adaptive reuse of an old industrial building and a commitment to integrated energy efficiencies onsite illustrate how a technology company can find a good home in Tigard,” said Lloyd Purdy, Tigard’s new economic development manager. “Given Tigard’s central location on the west side, I’m surprised more technology companies haven’t already discovered Tigard.”
