Backers of a proposed medical rehabilitation center have asked the city for a 10-year waiver on property taxes.

Pringle Square North LLC, a development group led by Larry Tokarski, has applied for Salem’s Multiple-Unit Housing Tax Incentive Program. Tokarski wants the incentive for an acute rehab center planned for a 1.4-acre portion of the former Boise Cascade site.

The 38,000-square-foot center would be operated by Marquis Companies. Developers maintain the project would mean 70 new jobs at the rehab center and millions of dollars of economic benefits for the city.
