Lane County’s major health care provider PeaceHealth is forming a strategic affiliation with nonprofit health care chain UW Medicine.

UW Medicine is affiliated with the University of Washington and includes four medical centers in the Seattle area — UW Neighborhood Clinics, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine and Airlift Northwest.

The relationship will be a deeper collaboration for the two systems, which have worked together informally for years, said Peter Adler, chief strategy officer for nonprofit PeaceHealth, which owns the Sacred Heart medical centers in Eugene and Springfield.
