PeaceHealth chose its next CEO of its Oregon operations from the for-profit health care industry.

The nonprofit health care system Wednesday named John Hill as chief executive officer of its Oregon region, effective May 31. The region includes hospitals in Springfield, Eugene, Cottage Grove and Florence.

PeaceHealth has dealt with financial issues in recent years, taking on heavy debt and tapping its cash reserves to build the $537.6 million RiverBend hospital in Springfield. The hospital opened in August 2008, just months before the U.S. financial crisis.
