The Oregon House approved a measure banning all gas-powered engines from Waldo Lake. It now goes to Gov. Kitzhaber.

Proponents of the ban say it’s needed to protect the lake’s purity by minimizing the risks posed by pollution and invasive species.

Opponents say the ban is unnecessary because people previously used gas-powered boats and landed seaplanes without harming the lake.
