Although Eugene won’t be able to beat the tourism boost of last year’s Olympic Trials, Tracktown is hosting the NCAA track and field championship in June.

The NCAA event probably won’t draw as many visitors as the Trials, and visitors are expected to be here four days, compared with 10 for the Trials, said Kari Westlund, CEO of Travel Lane County . Still, the championship will be a good boost for the travel and tourism industry, which is looking pretty good this year even without it, she said.

“We feel more optimistic about the summer. It’s been a long recession for all industries, and ours is no exception.”
