Hillsboro is fast-tracking plans to make 330 acres of farm land ready to become an industrial area.
But the farm land, brought into the urban growth boundary in October 2011, lacks sufficient roads and infrastructure necessary for future development.
Hillsboro’s Planning Commission approved a request Wednesday to ramp up plans to address the area’s shortfalls. The city wants to amend its comprehensive plan, re-zoning the agricultural land as industrial and paving the way to bring roads, water, sewer, and storm water services to the area’s doorstep.
