Portland-based Upstart Labs secured new investment from Rogue Venture Partners for its startup incubator.

Startup incubators are all the rage in the tech community, providing investment and mentorships to young companies in exchange for equity. Upstart, founded by alumni of the Portland social marketing firm StepChange Group, primarily offers services — Web development, marketing assistance and management guidance (though Upstart does invest directly in some companies).

It’s backed a half-dozen young companies, notably Chirpify — a highly touted social commerce site, which enables financial transactions over Twitter.
