Wilsonville-based Perceptive Pixel’s touch screen technology will be used in election night broadcasts.

The company was acquired by Microsoft over the summer.

It’s an heir to Oregon’s cluster of electronic display companies, which thrived in the late 1990s and then fell apart as their technology aged and the industry moved to Asia.

Turn on the networks for election news tonight and you may see the analysts map out the results on giant touch screens: A tap on the display, and ABC zooms in on Ohio; a CNN anchor uses a stylus to highlight a key county.
