The expansion of Santiam Memorial Hospital comes at a time when other area medical facilities are laying off staff and cutting services.
Howard S. Wright Constructors crews, based in Portland, have been building a new four-story patient tower for the past 18 months. Construction began in January 2010.
“We’re about 90 percent (complete). The tower itself will be complete by July 15,” said Maggie Hudson, Santiam Memorial Hospital Director of Operations and Finance. “That will be a construction completion, but not a move-in. We still have to renovate the connection to the old hospital.
