A family farm advocacy group released the 2012 Locavore Index, with Oregon coming in at No. 14.
The index was assembled using federal data to figure out highest per capita presence of community-supported agriculture farms (known as CSAs) and farmers markets.
Oregon’s 14th place finish, while respectable, highlights the fact that despite the attention paid to local foods in the region, the bulk of what Oregonians eat is still coming from elsewhere.
