The University of Oregon ranks behind comparable universities in key metrics, including student-professor ratios, winning research grants, undergraduate graduation rates and more, a new report says.

The University of Oregon ranks behind comparable universities in key metrics, including student-professor ratios, winning research grants, undergraduate graduation rates and more, a new report says.

Who issued the colorful report, “Benchmarking the University of Oregon,” that highlights the university’s basement-level standings in glaring detail? The University of Oregon’s interim provost, Scott Coltrane.

Coltrane said his motives included doing as President Michael Gottfredson asked, giving an accurate portrait of where UO stands compared with the nation’s best public universities and making a case that the Oregon Legislature and private donors should step up to bolster UO.
