Classified employees of the Oregon University System are set to take a strike vote this week.

Classified employees represented by Service Employee International Union Local 503 have scheduled a strike vote Thursday at each of the seven state universities.

The strike vote will go forward if last-ditch negotiations scheduled for Wednesday at Western Oregon University fall through.

Students return to classes Sept. 26.

The universities have started contingency planning in the event of a strike, OUS spokeswoman Di Saunders said.
