Google bought Tualatin-based software company Instantiations on Wednesday, splitting the company into two parts.

Some of the employees will move to a Vancouver office and continue to use the Instantiations name, while the majority will be moved by Google to a downtown Portland office.

Instantiations had 2009 revenue of $4.4 million and employed 30 people before its sale, [chief executive Mike] Taylor said. The companies declined to disclose terms of the deal or provide a breakdown of how employees will be distributed between Google and the new Instantiations.

Instantiations founder Eric Clayberg goes to Google, but becomes a board member of the new, Vancouver-based Instantiations. Taylor will remain with Google during the transition period, then helm the new Instantiations in Vancouver. He said Google’s new Portland office will focus on corporate software development.
