Google moved into its new downtown Portland office and immediately began work with software developed by Instantiations.

Last month, Google bought Tualatin-based Instantiations, whose software Google is now offering for free.

Instantiations had been making software to work with the Google Web Toolkit, a set of free products that creates applications to run on the Internet. Google wanted to incorporate Instantiations software so it could improve its programming experience and test applications’ performance.

Google, which derives revenue from Internet advertising and other online activity, wants to encourage people to do more online. That’s why many of its services, including the products acquired from Instantiations, are available free.
