Intel to cut 784 jobs from local workforce


The chipmaker plans to cut jobs in Hillsboro and Aloha.

The layoffs, revealed in a letter to the state, will take place by May 31. Workers will receive notices between today and Friday.

Intel said it will provide severance including six weeks of pay and three months of health care premiums for COBRA benefits. Last year, the company laid off an estimated 400 Oregon workers.
