A Eugene startup wants the clothes you sweat in to stop smelling so bad.

DeFUNKit has developed a formula to allow workout clothes to be worn more than once between washes.

Using technology developed by Dune Sciences, a spin-off of University of Oregon research, DeFUNKit bonds odor-blocking molecules to the fabric, [Dune Sciences CEO Richard Geiger] said. One treatment will last for about 20 machine washings, the company says.

Now Dune Sciences is working to spread the word about DeFUNKit and to expand its distribution.

The company is targeting cyclists to be its early users. It’s currently sold in a “handful of bicycle and sports stores in Eugene and Corvallis,” the R-G reports.
