ESPN: Those Guys Have All the Fun by James Andrew Miller, Tom Shales

“It was as fascinating to learn how the business model was developed, and where the early investment came from, as it was to read about the on-air and behind-the-scenes talent and the politics involved.”

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

“It’s a novel about Thomas Cromwell and is structured around King Henry VIII’s efforts to end his marriage to Katherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn. We all know what happened to Anne. It’s not an easy read, because of the way the novel is structured, but it’s an interesting read.”

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

“I really enjoyed this novel about Ernest Hemingway’s first marriage to Hadley Richardson. It’s set in Paris in the 1920s and is a great glimpse into the American expatriate/artistic community of that era. I’ve been to a number of the places and neighborhoods in Paris where the book is set.”

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

“There’s a reason this was on all of the best-sellers lists. Great story of perseverance, meeting challenges and accomplishing a goal. It’s a page-turner I couldn’t put down.”

Dream Team by Jack McCallum

“The story of the original U.S. basketball Dream Team from the 1992 Olympics by the Sports Illustrated writer who was on the inside and followed them for SI. World-class athletic talent, huge egos and a significant amount of politics and humor.”
