Blair declined to elaborate on the statement after the event concluded. A Nike spokesman did not immediately return messages.
If Nike was studying whether making clothes in Portland was feasible, Blair would be a logical person to call. As the head of a company that offers classes for beginning and advanced stitchers, she’d be able to answer Nike’s questions about whether there are enough qualified workers for Nike to hire.
