Insurance agents are setting up Cover Oregon sound-alike websites with names like Cover Oregon Plan, Cover Oregon Now and Oregon Health Exchange.

But consumers need to make sure their agent is certified, and should know that only the state’s official website — coveroregon.com — can offer tax credits and other savings, says Cover Oregon spokesman Michael Cox.

Although the state marketplace hasn’t been able to enroll people yet, that hasn’t stopped agents seeking to capitalize on web searches. Polls consistently show many people don’t understand the new exchanges, and regulators around the country have issued public warnings that consumers should be wary.
