SolarWorld replaced its top U.S. executives and is consolidating U.S. operations in its Hillsboro hub.

The executive shakeup and merger of SolarWorld’s Oregon production site and California sales and marketing division arrive as the German solar-panel maker restructures globally.

SolarWorld has struggled to compete against cheaper panels made by Chinese competitors, and continues to push for tougher duties on panels imported into the United States.

Former U.S. vice president Mukesh Dulani took office Wednesday as SolarWorld’s top U.S. executive, replacing Gordon Brinser as president. Brinser had become a key voice in the trade fight, and as recently as last week served as the company’s public face in Oregon.
