SolarWorld ignored the latest appeal from opponents who wanted the company to drop its trade case against China.

Gordon Brinser, president of SolarWorld Industries Americas, which employs 1,000 in Hillsboro, dismissed as “inappropriate bluster” a letter from Jigar Shah, president of the Coalition for Affordable Solar Energy. Shah sent a letter to Brinser Tuesday saying U.S. tariffs sought by SolarWorld on Chinese products would jeopardize more than $60 billion worth of solar installations and risk a trade war. 

SolarWorld and six other companies contend Beijing illegally subsidizes Chinese companies that flood the United States with cheap panels in an attempt to corner the market. Shah says low-price panels help spread solar power, claiming tariffs would cost thousands of jobs.
