The City of Newport has purchased the Newport Municipal Airport for $250,000 from the aiport’s current operator, Central Oregon Coast Air Services.

 

Energy on the edge: Can fuel cells replace batteries?

{safe_alt_text}The world is increasingly moving to wireless sensors for everything from water and gas meters to shipping container tracking devices to temperature sensors in industrial freezers (read: Wal-Mart). Over their decades-long life, these devices require several rounds of batteries, which are inexpensive, and labor to physically replace them, which isn’t.

 

Construction flexes economic muscle

{safe_alt_text}During the past year, Oregon employers added 58,100 nonfarm jobs, a 3.5% gain. Of all sectors, construction added the most jobs (11,400) and grew the fastest (12.7%), more than three times the national rate of construction growth.
