Home Depot plans to offer a service linking customers with building professionals in its Portland stores in late September.

Dubbed Redbeacon, the service was launched in 2009 and bought by Home Depot last year. The service, which Home Depot already offers in many large cities and it expanding nationwide, will be available by Sept 24 at 172 stores the retailer operates in the Pacific Northwest, including its 12 in the Portland area.

The service, which is accessible for free online, by mobile phone and at in-store kiosks, matches consumers with particular questions and projects with pre-screened professionals, according to Home Depot. After filling out an online form about their project, customers will receive up to four suggested contractors and if they’re interested, bids — in essence, like the directory and customer review site Angie’s List. They can book an appointment and pay with the application.
