C & K Market is closing its store in Walterville, leaving the McKenzie River community without a grocery store.
The Brookings-based company said the store at 39317 McKenzie Highway has not been profitable “for quite some time” against increased retail competition and a drop in tourist traffic.
Sandeno said the company intends to offer jobs at its other stores to all employees at the market. About 20 full- and part-time employees work at the store.
