Campaign finance reports show John Kitzhaber as the top fundraiser in the governor race.
Democrat John Kitzhaber has the current lead in fundraising among the candidates for governor, according to state campaign finance reports.
With $389,670 raised as of Monday, Kitzhaber is ahead of fellow Democrat Bill Bradbury and has a slight lead over Republican Chris Dudley.
Political analyst Jim Moore said Kitzhaber’s early fundraising lead shows that the former two-term governor is viewed by some as the Democratic front runner.
“The early givers are favoring Kitzhaber,” said Moore, who teaches political science at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
