Pacific City’s Pelican Brewing is opening a $1.4M brewery in downtown Tillamook.

Gov. Kitzhaber’s office helped with a $150,000 forgivable loan.

The city of Tillamook’s urban renewal agency also provided $200,000 in loans, half of that amount forgivable, to help finance the 17-year-old brewery’s expansion on Front Street.

Pelican employs 130 and expects to add the equivalent of 20 positions in Tillamook, where it hopes to eventually produce 11,000 barrels of beer a year. The brewery, featuring a taphouse and viewing area, will allow Pelican to produce 12-ounce bottles for the first time.
