In attempt to advance budget negotiations, Republican senators introduced a bill outlining their caucus’ wish list for reforms to the Public Employees Retirement System.

Gov. John Kitzhaber has spent recent weeks trying to reach a compromise between House and Senate Democrats and Republicans that would include revenue increases and cuts to the cost of PERS. The deal would provide an unprecedented $7 billion for K-12 education and more money for mental health care, Kitzhaber has said.
