Kaiser’s Westside Medical Center received LEED Gold status ahead of its August opening.
The facility becomes the first Portland-area hospital to receive the designation. It is also one of just 36 hospitals nationally to earn the honors.
Kaiser officials said the company saves more than $10 million per year through its sustainability efforts. It has also eliminated the purchase and disposal of 40 tons of harmful chemicals in its facilities.
