Xerox plans to close call centers in Coos Bay and North Bend, cutting 285 jobs.

Bill McKee is a spokesman for Xerox. He says since his company acquired Affiliated Computer Services two years ago, Xerox has shifted toward providing customer support to that company’s clients. He says one of those clients is influenced the decision on the South Coast call centers.

“In this case, our client has made a business strategy decision to change the way they deliver customer care – and that has impacted our operations. So we have made the very difficult decision to close the Coos Bay and North Bend customer care centers. This affects approximately 300 people,” he said.
