Pacific Northwest Kale Chips earned a spot on a list of top Benefit Corporations.

Pacific Northwest Kale Chips was founded in April 2012 by Sarah Pool and Ugyen Shola. They quickly became a certified B Corporation and devoted their business to such principles as paying fair wages and working with local suppliers. The company also donates 10 percent of its profits back to the community.

“They believe that ‘conscious capitalism’ is the only way to do business and want to help create a new sector of the economy that is purpose-driven and creates benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders,” said Lisa Pool. “They believe that all business ought to be conducted as if people and place matter and that through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.”
