The latest Job Vacancy Survey from the Oregon Employment Department shows that for every job opening available this winter, there were eight unemployed Oregonians to fill it.

The latest Job Vacancy Survey from the Oregon Employment Department shows that for every job opening available this winter, there were eight unemployed Oregonians to fill it.

Officials with the Employment Department estimate there were approximately 22,900 job vacancies this winter, down from the 31,200 vacancies in the fall of last year.

The estimate is not unexpected, however, because hiring patterns typically reach a low point in the winter.
