Two Oregon food processing companies announced a new development in Salem.

Henningsen Cold Storage Co. will build a 260,000 square-foot frozen food storage and distribution facility adjacent to a fruit and vegetable processing plant operated by NORPAC Foods Inc. The facility will be built on land owned by NORPAC.

The development will allow NORPAC to eliminate some trucking costs by conveying product directly into the cold storage plant. Henningsen, based in Hillsboro and founded in 1923, is one of the nation’s largest frozen food warehousing and distribution companies.
