The bulk of last month’s job creation — 6,000 jobs — was by private companies, with government adding 800 jobs.
Even as the number of jobs increased so did the number of people seeking work, with 7,376 more people joining — or rejoining — the work force last month.
In February, most of the state’s major industries added jobs, including construction — which added 1,800 jobs at a time when it would normally lose about 900 jobs, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistic. That increase came after a year of gradually declining construction employment.
