Oregon will lose approximately $10.2 million in funding for primary and secondary education, according to the White House. Head Start and Early Head Start services will be eliminated for approximately 600 children in the state, reducing access to early education.

About 3,000 civilian Department of Defense employees in Oregon will be furloughed, reducing gross pay by around $16.5 million. Security personnel at airports might be trimmed, causing longer wait times, and the Federal Aviation Administration says air traffic control facilities at the Portland-Troutdale airport as well as facilities in Klamath Falls, North Bend, Pendleton and Salem “could close” to save money.
