Portland General Electric and ECOtality completed their installation of fast charging stations along Interstate 5 and I-205.
The upshot? Electric vehicle drivers can pull out from Electric Avenue in Portland and drive south all the way to Ashland I-5 with just 20-minute charging stops along the way.
The southern portion of the electrified I-5 highway was announced last March. The effort is part of the West Coast Electric Highway, a tri-state initiative aiming to install charging infrastructure the entire length of the I-5 corridor from British Columbia to the Mexico border.
