Portland-area small business loans increase


Small Business loans in the Portland area increased in the first quarter of the fiscal year, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Small Business loans in the Portland area increased in the first quarter of the fiscal year, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The Portland district office guaranteed nearly $124 million in loans during the period that began with the Oct. 1 start of the federal fiscal year. The amount was a 46 percent increase over the same period the year before.

The district approved 216 loans in the first quarter, a 5 percent increase over a year ago.
