The National Council on Teacher Quality gave Oregon a D- on how well it prepares teachers for the classroom.

The biggest concerns: Oregon doesn’t ensure that teacher preparation programs admit candidates with strong academic records, elementary teachers are not required to be ready to teach common core standards and Oregon doesn’t distinguish between the skills needed to teach middle school and elementary school, according to the report.
