Portland redevelopment officials released documents confirming that Nike is interested in a Portland location.
Last month, Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber called a special session of the Oregon Legislature to approve long-term tax certainty for Nike tied to expansion plans. State officials publicly released their non-disclosure documents with Nike on Dec. 18.
But lawyers for the city and its redevelopment agency, the Portland Development Commission, refused to fulfill a public records requests from The Oregonian and argued the documents were exempt from disclosure. The about-face came Thursday, after The Oregonian appealed the denial to the Multnomah County district attorney’s office but before the office made a ruling.
