Oregon officials still don’t know how many jobs will be lost in Klamath Falls when Jeld-Wen moves its North American headquarters to North Carolina.

Jeld-Wen, Oregon’s largest private company, hasn’t issued a statement on the move, which was announced Thursday by North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue’s office. The window-and-door company’s global headquarters will remain in Klamath Falls, according to a release from Perdue’s office.

Larry Holzgang, an Oregon business development officer in Medford, said Monday that Jeld-Wen President Philip Orsino told him in September that the company was merely consolidating some sales teams in Charlotte. Therefore state officials never knew Jeld-Wen was looking for a North American headquarters site, he said, and couldn’t make a pitch in favor of Oregon.
