Ashland-based Brammo made the first delivery of its Empulse R to a buyer in San Francisco.

The bike was first announced in July 2010 but was severely delayed when the company went back to the drawing board on the drive train technology. The newest version, which promises 100 miles per hour speeds and a 100-mile range, was unveiled in May.

Brammo officials report that production is picking up speed. The long-awaited Enertia Plus — a slightly less expensive commuter motorcycle — is also expected to start shipping early next year.
